(1)\u00a0 My father\u2019s condition is stable at nursing home for elderly.<\/p>\n

Recently my father went to a nursing home for elderly on care manager\u2019s advice.\u00a0 I worried about my mother\u2019s fatigue and health.\u00a0 He hadn\u2019t get day care before.\u00a0 To my surprise, his condition is better than before.\u00a0 I was moved to tears when I saw the photo that he joined in a handicraft class.<\/p>\n
(2)\u00a0 It is very hard for us to use short-term stay.<\/p>\n

It is six years since I began to care my mother who is acknowledged needing care 3.<\/p>\n
She attend day care four times a week, and short-term stay twice a year.<\/p>\n
Actually, it is very hard for us to use short-term stay, because there are many who<\/p>\n

When it was decided, she had a fever the day before.\u00a0 So I have always been worried about her health condition even if she is in the facilities.\u00a0 And I am very anxious that nobody may take my place.<\/p>\n
(3) The family budget is pretty tight after revising the Long Term Care Insurance system.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Shizuoka pref.\u00a0 Mrs. N.)<\/p>\n
After the revision of the Long Term Care Insurance system, I\u2019m having trouble making ends meet because the increasing of our own expenses.\u00a0 Now my husband (needing care 5) is in the geriatric health care facility.\u00a0 His condition is not so good, so I can\u2019t take care of him at home.<\/p>\n
There is no choice if we can\u2019t bear the burden of heavy expenses.\u00a0 I\u2019m worried about what may lie ahead, and it is difficult to find the best way for us.<\/p>\n

I review a picture book this time.\u00a0 This book was written about a senile grandmother from her grandson\u2019s point of view.\u00a0 It is out of print, but the plan to reprint is underway.<\/p>\n
His grandmother\u2019s disease \u201cdementia\u201d is very serious.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy grandma seems to be a baby.\u00a0 She always sleeps in bed. She uses diapers.\u00a0 And she can\u2019t have a meal without help,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cBut she doesn\u2019t crying like a baby, when she is hungry. She shouted, [Haven\u2019t you prepare a meal yet?].\u00a0 [You have,] my mother said.\u201d\u00a0 When my mother was angry, my father got angry with her.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t take care of his mother, but he wanted to treat his mother kindly.\u00a0 Sometimes grandma said to him,\u201d Who are you?\u201d \u00a0She didn\u2019t forget that my mother was the person who cared for her every day, even thought she forgot her name.\u00a0 She however forgot her son, because he didn\u2019t know how she felt.\u00a0 \u201cSometimes my grandma said to my mother [You are a thief.]\u201d\u00a0 \u201cMy mother is crying all by herself.\u201d<\/p>\n
She was tired from nursing care.\u00a0 Her husband didn\u2019t understand her either.\u00a0 She could not help crying.<\/p>\n
\u201c[I want my grandma\u2019s death,] he said.\u00a0 My mother looked down upon me and said nothing.]\u00a0 The doctor said, [There is no medicine which works for dementia.]\u00a0 He thought, \u201cGrandma became an alien.\u00a0 And it is very hard for us to live with an alien.\u00a0 But an alien has its.\u00a0 And it isn\u2019t good to destroy life.\u201d<\/p>\n
This author wrote on the last page as follows: He thought, \u201cMy father and mother will become aliens, when they get old.\u00a0 And I will be an alien, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
The grandson felt that generally dementia comes from old age.\u00a0 I think that the valuable experience with his grandmother would be good for his future.<\/p>\n

Message from a family<\/p>\n
She entered a hospital on April 19th <\/sup>1997.\u00a0 She kept a diary five days before entering.\u00a0 She couldn\u2019t express her feelings in words.\u00a0 So we thought that it is impossible for her to write the diary but she did.\u00a0 She had believed in Christianity for a long time, so her deep feelings with gratitude were expressed with the same phrases.<\/p>\nMonday April 14th<\/sup> 1997<\/p>\nI wish to thank you all.\u00a0 I\u2019m grateful to you for your kindness.\u00a0 I thank you from the bottom of my heart.\u00a0 I wish to thank you all.\u00a0 I would like to express my deepest gratitude.\u00a0 Thank you for your kindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
