2. AAJ HEADQUARTERS UPDATE <\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>*AAJ held a regular board meeting in Kyoto on 28th<\/sup> August and evaluated the activities of the first part of the year discussed about projects of the latter half of the year. The main agenda was the<\/p>\n

project of \u201cCarer\u2019s care.\u201d<\/p>\n

*AAJ will conduct research on \u201ccarer\u2019s care\u201d for AAJ 500 members to make a proposal to improve dementia care from the point of view of PWDs and carers themselves. It will start from September.<\/p>\n

3. Congratulatory message from The Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year is the 18th<\/sup> anniversary of World Alzheimer\u2019s Day. Innumerable activities have been carried out to improve the quality of lives of PWDs and there carers all over the world. In Japan, AAJ has been taking a significant role in this and I respect the achievement of AAJ.<\/p>\n

Now the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is developing a national campaign called \u201cDementia Supporters Project\u201dcooperating with local governments and various organizations such as AAJ. In 2010, the number of supporters was over 2 million and half all over Japan. Please continue this good coordination and act together to build up a comfortable society for PWDs and their carers.<\/p>\n

We wish that AAJ will thrive and act powerfully more and more.<\/p>\n

<\/strong> <\/strong>*I am very anxious about People with dementia and their carers in disaster areas. How dreadful they felt! And still now how they must stand such a severe situation. I can just pray for their recovery. (64- year-old woman)<\/p>\n

*I am a professional care giver and have been taking care of my mother from last June. And then I realized how difficult it is to take care of a family member. Though I can care for anyone appropriately with calmness and a respectful attitude, I am always confused taking care of my mother. Through my experience I agree that family members are not always good carers. I greatly thank and support Long Term Care Insurance. (62-year-old woman)<\/p>\n
